I can't remember ever having this day off but I I scheduled it off so we could do a late dinner out last night and I'd not have drag ass at work all day.

Supposed to be a holiday. Worked until 2am the night before so I slept late (until 7:30am) Got to the office by 10 and then worked until about 5pm. Went to dinner and answered emails on my blackberry the whole time. Got home and sent out a few more emails and now I'm ready to go to bed at 10 so that I can get up by 6 to start a "real" workday. Bankers hours.

I worked from home ... my intention was to answer e-mails and nothing more ... then I picked up the phone. Big mistake!

I'm not even sure if we were open today. Stayed home and just checked my email. Sure enough I got 2 from the pres at 4:xx PM. Crap.

Someone was telling me yesterday that there was a time when employees were given both Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays off, so they had two paid holidays in February.

It's apparently not uniform that govt. employees get it off, either. This bureaucrat worked a full day yesterday.
