Appreciation at last Besides being funny and maybe slightly offensive, there are serious points one can gleam from the story. 1) People even in seemingly non-superficial cultures can be superficial, e.g., it's probably human nature. 2) Women in such cultures might like the "oppressive" veil for aesthetic purposes, especially since historically beauty aids probably have been outweighed by the rough living.
