Follow-up Email After Submitting Job Application

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a little help of writing a follow-up email for a job application. Should it be brief and simply ask about the status and state that I am still interested? Can anyone provide some examples?

Is a follow-up email even necessary or is it simply a nuisance for the employer?

Personally I just include a cover letter with the submission and then follow up on an interview. For the application its self you're not going to have much influence if they've already written you off.

Make a follow-up call not email. Don't leave a message if they don't pick up, call back later.

I have been told that it can set you apart from the rest of the applicants. So I would keep it to the point, because most likely the person reading it does not have much time to dedicate to your letter.

+1

Purpose is to get them to put a face/voice behind your application. Email is annoying.. even after the interview a thank-you card is more sincere.

if they're interested in you, they'll get in touch with you. a next day type of thank you is fine, but a two-weeks-later "am i still in contention" is almost certainly pointless.

A thank-you card is the way to go.

Call or note. NO e-mail!
