Proposal: A pinned thread for Interest Checks

I propose a pinned thread for interest checks. As I'm not currently selling anything, I have no ax to grind. But I tire of legitimate sale threads being bumped for Interest Checks and/or threads with the all-too-common "pictures later, measurements later". Either list correctly and completely (read: a description, pictures, measurements, and a price), or don't list at all. I can't speak for everyone, but I feel safe saying few people will shell out hundred(s) of dollars for something they can't see, can't feel, and can't try on from someone they can't see face to face. Other thoughts are welcome.

While I agree that this is abused, I have purchased an item from an IC. It was a price that wouldn't last long.

I'd be all in favor of this.

To be clear, I'm not proposing that we do away with Interest Checks. What I'm proposing is that we do something with them to help slow the bumping of legitimate sale threads from the front page after only a few hours. I also think it would be more convenient to have all IC's in one place, rather than interspersed among sale threads.

While I might agree with the "list it or don't" sentiment, the idea of having a pinned thread just for IC's seems like a bad one.

What irks me more than ICs is all of the "Proposal:" and "Let's change B&S" threads; partly because it sounds kind of like complaining to me and partly because I liked the old ways better...you know, when B&S was in the top fold and you could click one link and see everything members had to offer. Then again, sometimes I can be very lazy.

If this is just to prevent sale threads from getting 'bumped off' the front page, you'd also have to prohibit anyone from posting banter in any of the sale threads.

This just sounds like complaining to me.

+1.

I don't think they are enough Interest Checks to even warrant this. An even if there were, whenever we vent to make a change to the B&S forum, it always goes off onto different tangents about what else can improve and we lose sight of the initial point.

All that being said, I vote for the status quo.

Perhaps a new subforum for 'Venting' would be more appropriate as such threads have become more and more popular and they have less to do with For Sale threads than Interest Checks do.

I vote for status quo because I only check ICs if it says something I'm interested in as a buyer. I am also not a huge fan of the recent "pics later" trend.

I posted in this thread to bump other sales threads to pg2

I found a couple of aquascutum suits at the local bloomingdale's i was pretty surprised to see them there.

i dont know too much about aquascutum, but these are solid black suits (almost look like very dark charcoal, i would think they are and just mislabled black) in 42R and 44R.

the retail on the suits are 1095 each. which confused me because the fabric/cut /construction was better than anything else they had there and were of sf acceptance levels.

i would think these would be around 1500 suits?

however, they are right now at 500 each marked down

a bit later they will be 65 % off i believe and make them $350 each.

i dont know what line, or what year, but the suits all had a label of some england regent street or something like that.
