I promised myself a wingsuit jump before I turn 30

I think mountain climbers should wear them.

Too lazy to watch any of those vids but there is a show in the UK called Daredevil and the first episode is a guy who flies a wingsuit from the top of the Eiger... spends much of the ride five feet from the ridge. Very intense.

They get really close to the wall. The guy in the first video died in a jump.

Holy shit. Those vids are surreal.

I've done all the usual backpacker shit like bungy jumps and a couple of tandem skydives, but this stuff separates the amateur from the hardcore pro. You gotta have balls of steel and an extensive knowledge of what you're doing to survive an attempt at that.

I've used a wingsuit a few times (regular skydiving). They are pretty cool, but I treasure life too much to go base jumping...

This video is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1PMYSOUWe8 The best part of the video is when he lands in the middle of a manhattan street and a taxi driver pulls up to him. I can't embed youtubes :\\

Base jumping is a little nuts. I've blacked out a little bit during the acceleration of regular sky diving and I don't think i'd want to be that close to a wall or an outcropping. Would definitely like to try one of those wingsuits though.

why white people do shit like this is beyond me

That would be super fun but I'm totally scared of heights.

I'm reminded of that Jack Handey quote about how you can't just yodel on the first day of a yodelling class-- you have to work up to that. How exactly do you work up to this kinda stuff?

All you really need is a liberal dose of insanity combined with a secret death wish. I suppose being an adrenaline junkie also helps.
