So, what are you guys doing for Valentines Day

What did you guys get for her or what are you planning?

Well, I will be celebrating Valentines Day with my girlfriend on Monday since Sunday is full of events for church. Anyway, I'm planning on taking her to Carabba's Italian for lunch followed by a nice walk along the lake. I just bought a Bath & Body Works bath/lotion set and included a written letter to her.

Lets see what you all come up with

dinner, then some fashion week afterparty with her whore, gold-digging, unambitious coupled friends.

I think this thread already exists, but I'll take the bait.

We're doing our Valentine's Day celebration tomorrow. Burgers at the Vortex, then a Flogging Molly show at the Tabernacle. Beer, burgers, and Celtic punk = V-Day Win!

It's not the most big timer day of romance, but it still seems somehow better than the cliché BS that gets thrown around as celebration for the "holiday."

As little as I can get away with! Until I was in my mid-30s, I always thought of Valentine's Day as being mostly a little kids' thing. About that time (1975-6), it really started to take off among adults, much like Halloween. In retrospect, I think it was sort of a Boomer thing--not wanting to give up your pampered childhood.

I just saw in the paper this morning that the Saudi Religious Police are cracking down on Valentine's stuff being sold in Riyadh. Amazing that the Valentine's silliness would have spread there.

I think I have remarked in threads of this sort before that I always sort of relished the inherent cruelty of an old-time elementary school Valentine's Day--in which some popular kids would get lots of Valentine's cards (from both sexes, curiously) while there would be some despised outcasts who would get none at all. It was much better training for real life than the rule in today's school that if you bring one classmate a Valentine's, you have to bring one to all of them. What a contemptible abrogation of free choice and free association!

I plan to find a crowd, get naked and run around, striking those that get in my way with a leather strap.

Masturbate.

This is easy. Bottle of champagne, pate, make dinner for my wife (lamb), sing a romantic song while playing the guitar, give her schmaltzy Hallmark card - she will be happy for months.

Avoiding the silliness as much as possible.

Probably sitting around being bitter. Either that or I'll be hung over as all hell.

Actually I am working that day so it will not be as bad. At least I won't have to watch all the lovely couples walking around together.

Boys, better get a card. They'll overlook everything but the card. Oh, how the card is important. Write in the card. Present the card. Watch them as they read the card. My goodness, without that card you could have bought them the best dinner and the finest perfume for naught.

What I'm trying to say is get them a card. Any kind of card. Even a Dollar Store card. As long as it is in an envelope. Just get them that card.
