If I cut a big "LH" into my skin, you'd all think I was a lunatic. This is no different.

I thought you'd carve "Nivea" in your arm since you are the spokesman for their "Replenishing Post Shaving Balm" (Esquire, Oct '09, page 104)

To be fair MMM is a lot more worthy of dedication (significance, innovation, mystery, intended audience, etc) but yeah, bit too much. I like the Japanese fashion teacher who only wears MMM and has never even been to the bathroom or opened as much as a water bottle in his apt to avoid affecting the clothes.

Well, the fact that there are more Margiela lunatic-level fanatics then LH lunatic-level fanatics doesn't mean that Margiela is more deserving of them. It's clothes, either way.

One is clothes, the other one is conceptual art, deconstruction and happenings (early shows, "artisanal" collections) applied on people + a bunch of boring clothes too, let's be frank. Now that it's been Renzo Rosso-ified I'll easily grant you MMM is less than stellar.

It's "conceptual art, deconstruction and happenings . . . applied on people" if you want to see it that way. Now, that doesn't necessarily destroy any artistic merit it might have, but you can't so readily dismiss the limitations of your own perspective and bias.

I know, I know--I'm not from the background you'd consider worthy of judging Margiela. However, that doesn't really matter does it? I could say the same about you and Rubinacci with equal validation. That's why I think it's pointless to judge an opinion by the person who speaks it. Hell, for all you know, being an outsider just means I'm seeing things more clearly.
