Diamond Engagement Ring - Page 3

Yes, it is typical to request a GIA report with your stone. Most jewelers, if they don't already offer one, will agree to get you one. Don't be afraid to ask! Even if you have to pay for the report, it is worth it! GIA is the most reputable and most highly respected lab in the industry. They have the strictest grading standards and are known as the most accurate. They also invented the 4 C's. Their website might be helpful to you if you want to learn more about the 4 C's: www.gia4cs.gia.edu
Hope this helps!

Yes, it is very typical to request a GIA report when you are diamond shopping. GIA is considered to be the most reputable lab in the industry. Not only did they develop the 4 C's grading system in the first place, but they are an independent, scientific lab not affiliated with any store or jeweler. Their reports are the most accurate and reliable diamond grading reports around. Any reputable jeweler will be willing to submit a stone for a GIA report if it is not already GIA-certified. Don't be afraid to ask!

Six month bump?

Also, AGS is at least as highly regarded as GIA.

First time I enter this forum and this thread gets bumped, nice timing. Anyways, I own a jewelry store, if you have any questions, go ahead and shoot at me and I will try my best to answer them. Also. to the poster above me, no one is as highly regarded as GIA. In an industry without any true regulation, GIA is the standard. edit: Just went back and read a lot of the front page.. no offense, but there is a lot of poor advice on here. I wouldn't listen to anything posted on that first page.

I know most people wear their engagement ring on their right hand during the ceremony, and move it to the left side before the reception. However, my "something old" is my great grandmother's diamond ring, which I plan to wear on my right hand ring finger. Any suggestions for what to do with my engagement ring during the ceremony?
