I have nothing personal against the guy, he's got a sense of humor that I appreciate. I don't much care for his music, but the fact that he doesn't take himself or his fame too seriously makes me like him a whole lot more than a lot of other artists.

I really don't understand the hate towards John Mayer. To me he's never really come off as douchey/stupid, etc. at all...

Don't like his taste in women but he's got a sense of humor. He's full of himself, sure, but he's got a LOT of musical talent.

As for the "hood" comments, most of the band he takes around is black, so he probably thought that gave him some pass. He's since apologized, though it was a weird apology.

+1 at worst hes annoying and bit arragant...If you see VH1s Storytellers you'll get why some people may be put off by him but like he explains he'd love to be the quiet mysterious type where in reality hes got diarrhea of the mouth 24/7

Im not a big fan of his blues playing but hes an awesome songwriter and hes always got great tone.

I think some of his comments were a little over the top but I think the point he was trying to make was that even as a artist, he still is subject to the whims and thoughts of some us "regular" people. His comments about black women are especially indicative of today's culture. Some people i know were really upset about that comment (I'm a black male btw) because they seemed to think it was racist. Is he really racist or just doing what the rest of us do? interracial relationships are a minority so is the rest of the world not in one racist as well?

I don't know... Just my thoughts..

one of my writers for my site wrote on the subject as well.. I don't agree with all of his points but its another perspective..
