Where to buy Fairmount shoes

Does anyone know how to order these online or where in the US they can be found?

Nope, but now I'm interested, too. Do you know anything about the quality? Price is not terribly cheap, but not unfairly high, either.

Don't konw anything about quality but I really like the looks. I sent them an e-mail a few weeks ago asking if they would sell direct but I never heard back.

Looks like the slightly less rich man's Tod's. Sold at Manfield and Bowen, two mid-range French shoe shops. Not sure what sets them aside from other driving mocs, but there's some pretty pictures of them at souliers.net unless my memory does not serve me correctly.

Incidentally, Church's in France is now well over 500 euros a pair. Sickening.

I phoned the Lille shop a couple of weeks ago and the sales assistant agreed with the principle of sending me a pair, but made strong reservations given the unusual sizing.

The whole story ended up last week-end with me going to the Lille shop, trying the shoes on and buying them.

As far as I can tell, when comparing to the Tod's of my wife- they're probably of a slightly inferior leather quality, but overall the construction is very good and the last is quite nice. They're supremely comfortable... And they have little competition, if any at all: even Tod's doesn't stock classic driving loafers for men anymore (at least in Brussels, Paris and Firenze). Would be happy to post pictures if needed.

Please post pics, I would very much like to see them. What's this about unusual sizing? Also, what was the inventory of the Lille shop as compared to the selection on the web site? And finally: would you be willing to buy and ship for forum members?

1. Here are some pics I just took ...

2. Nothing spectacular really, I'm usually an EUR 42 and ended up with an EUR 42.5 fitting perfectly (on the shoe box it seems to be size '095').

3. They seemed a little out of stock when I was there, but they told me they were restocking very regularly.

4. I would probably have been, but Lille is a big 120 km away from Brussels and I don't go there quite often ... If I were you I'd try to phone the Lille shop and see what happens.

All in all, from what I can tell, they seem pretty decent value for money and I'm happy to have them at the right moment (first hot days here)

Cheers

Tibo.
