spain and brazil should be the favorites. they are at a level above everyone else right now. after them, every match is a toss-up with only new zealand as a weakling. england, france, germany, and italy are overrated right now. asia, africa, and latin america are underrated. i blame the media.

and it won't surprise me if mexico beats france and the u.s. beats england.

T - that would be awesome! I don't know if it is possible vis-a-vis the groupings/draws, but I think England & Argentina will do well.

As much as I want them to win, I just can't get behind England anymore. Whenever a World Cup is at stake, their chemistry goes to ****.

That being said, I am rooting for Argentina and France. Please not Spain.

Actually: true story - I picked Italy to win in '06, largely because we were headed there the week following the WC, and I didn't want to see a bunch of dour Italians.

England: I have my doubts, every year with that squad I have my doubts.

I fear the US will crash and burn. Charlie Davies is out and I'm not sure Gooch will be be back either. We were starting to see some spark at the Confederations Cup, but lost it at the Gold Cup.

The USSF recently re-elected Sunil Gulati as the Pres so we won't see any change in the way things are run for the next four years. Bradley will still be coach for the WC. He'll call up the same players; it'll be a disaster.

Yet I'll still cheer them on. If we beat England, I'll be happy. If we make the second round, I'll be shocked. And if we make it to the third round, I'll eat my hat. And I hope all of the other CONCACAF teams crash.

Capello vs. Lippi, - an England vs Italy final would be Lippi's dream match he said in a recent interview. So, that won't be happening then...

^ Both those pictures are disgraceful in their own way so I don't really see a distinction.

Either way, Messi is really all that matters now.

If Rooney gets on a roll and if they can avoid penalties, England will have their chance. Never underestimate Germany.
