Chances are, your interviewer won't be wearing either, and doing so can be easily misinterpreted as one-upmanshit (tolerated in the legal community) or blindness to social norms (not accepted in the legal community).

Braces shouldnt be visible, I've received very positive acknowledgments about my sartorial choices from older professionals on many occassions, comments and compliments that I've taken to be genuine. I think people are often thrilled to see a young person taking this whole thing seriously.

Its ashame that being a little nervous is such a bad sign, to me thats a sign someone is going to take the job seriously and put their best effort into it once the jitters are gone.

I was in a hiring position for the racing business that I worked with and the most nervous hire I made was also the best, really put effort into getting the job done correctly and thought into the how and why of what was going on. Used to ask very interesting questions and overall was a pleasant person to deal with everyone.

I've interviewed before so I think I have the basics down. What I want is just random interview tips that you think are helpful. Preferably, stuff that people normally don't consider/think about. I'd really appreciate some help guys. Thanks.

here is a good tip, it is not relevant to me as i dont have this problem, and maybe conne you dont as well, but for some folk out there, especially young guys,

dont go to an interview that you may have a good rapport with the company people who are conducting the interview, with a sort of douchey conversationalism, you know, the kind of slimy-cubicle-yuppie sort of talk and tone that some young guys automatically get into when they quickly have a bit of confidence turned cockiness and think they are friends with the interviewer. you know, the E-trade baby voice over kind of talk /spiel that i personally gag over when i hear it ( i hate those commercials).

you may think you are cool with the interviewer or friends with them, but sometimes they are just really friendly and really they may not think mutually. they may be like that to all and just get along with everyone and expect everyone to approach the interview in a pro manner.

so again, i am not directing this to conne,
but just as a general advice as i see so many of these young guys go out there in the corporate world and automatically think if they got a connection or a desk to sit in, they got to talk like the E-trade douchebag baby.

good luck man.

Good advice shoe. I am not like that but I would honestly expect that A LOT of folks in the financial world are just like you describe. Ex-frat guys, kind of the "What's good bro?" type that would be like that with an interviewer.

Was part of a panel interview the other day with some donkey who pulled this shit. The principals liked him anyway. But the decision maker could hardly get him out the door fast enough.
