Classic. Avoid a high roll and you will be fine.

+1. I have a 3-button that I avoided to wear after being in SF. One day I took it to a dry cleaner thinking of putting it up on ebay. The dry cleaner actually moved the roll down and it looks fine now. I wear it occasionally.

Can you clarify what the undesirable "high roll" is? Does it mean the lapel doesn't quite reach the top button? (the space b/w) In the other thread...there are 2 other variations of "3 button" "3 roll 2" "2 1/2" ? Which of these are to be avoided?

A 3 roll 2 is a jacket that has 3 buttons, but has been designed to fit similar to a 2 button jacket, so the collar is pressed to roll down to the second button.

example:

A 3 roll 2 1/2 is a jacket that has been designed to wear with the top 2 buttons done up, but worn with only the middle button done up which allows the top button to roll gently to form the lapel.

You should avoid the one that appeals to you the least.

Looks like a TM Lewin suit. Be aware that their 2 button has a bit high roll...couldn't imagine the the 3 button stance to be any lower

How dare you bring common sense into SF doctrine?

This only applies to the weak willed. But nearly all of us can use a Jeeves, if we're smart enough to know when to listen.
