What's the best CPA exam materials and where can I find the best deals? I"ve heard that it can cost thousands of dollars. (I'm buying for a friend of mine).

I've had the best results with Becker. If you're friend is still in college, tell him to contact Becker and tell them he wants to be a campus rep. One of the easiest ways to get free materials.

Friends took Kaplan CPA review and passed on the first try.

Becker is the most common and is what the Big 4 and GT give out for free when you join full time. Normal cost is like $2500.

That's the way I went as well - may be a good idea for your friend to wait until he gets a job offer and see what the firm's policy is.

Roger CPA is always pushing his program at my school, it's cheaper than Becker ($1599?). If/when I try for the CPA, I'm going to do the classes + the flashdrive based computerized studying.

Is it common for CPAs to have absolutely no sense of humor? Is that in the test?
