Worth it? - Repairing dent

So I'm deciding whether getting my truck fixed is worth it. I got hit in a parking lot, not too bad, some minor denting and scratching (removed paint) over the back right wheel well. Lamely, other driver jetted, so it was technically a hit and run with no second party to track down.

Anyway, I took it a to a top notch body shop and the estimate came out to $1456. I figure if I get it done, may as well do it right. I would pay my deductible of $500 and be open to higher insurance rates the next time a claim is filed.

Some friends have been telling me not to bother, given the likelihood that I'll get hit again. Plus I do use it like a truck camping, climbing and doing out doorsy junk so she'll live a good life.

Right now she's new and the denting is ugly... which makes me want to fix. Thoughts?

Get it fixed. It's new and it is a source of pride. And then park diagonally across 2 spaces from now on.

Keyed for sure. I've done this a few times and each time I worry I'll come back to a nice key down the side.

Parking in diagonal parking is what I do now. The accident was just some genius that couldn't pull out of a straight parking spot properly. Granted my truck takes up the entire space. But people seem to be able to make it out much easier in slanted spots.

Wish there was a "I keed, I keed" smiles icon. I was trying to be funny about the diagonal parking thing. It's a mark of douchebaggery, especially when it's a Porsche.

I once saw an asshole taking up 2 spots with his yellow Hummer. I was on my way into a restaurant that had just opened there. There were stickers on the Hummer advertising the douchebag's newly opened restaurant. Needless to say, I never went in.

I wonder if the restaurant is still in business...

I would fix it, especially on a fairly new vehicle.

I agree. Douchebaggery for sure. The few times I've done it have been at the back of large lots where it doesn't matter much.

Yea, but I plan on keeping this one for a good while. Once its paid off I'm going to keep it as a second and grab a coupe/sedan.

I'd fix it if it were mine espically if I planned on keeping it for a good while.

I would also try a few different body shops just to see if that first shop's quote is to high.

Is it going to get more beat up over the time you have it? If so, I'd just get some primer or something in there to keep it from rusting and go back to hauling whatever you haul in it.

I've got quotes as low as 700 ish, but my deductible is 500 so it doesn't matter, may as well do it right if I get it done.

Hauling is not something I do all the time, but I do haul some things, not a part of my job or anything... But I'm thinking with what I do with it, it will get some more wear and tear damage.
