I for the most part have given up hope on commercial radio, between podcasts, cd's, and digital music there wasn't much use for it outside of NPR. Anyhow, a station from my home town that had gone away has come back and is streaming O/L 105.3 the spy FM anyhow, this can be a thread for good stations streaming radio.

Try last.fm. Cheap, keep track of what you listen and then suggest you songs. After a while, you can discover many groups that you never heard of.

I mainly use woxy.com Nebraska, similar to the one you posted Robbie. kexp.org Seattle, they do a very good job of covering all genres. Check out on demand and live acts. There's also somafm.com, a independent station out of SF. Looks like it got bigger since the last time I visited. And www.xfm.co.uk, obviously UK bands.

Well the old rock/metal station around here was 99x. They turned alternative, 96 Rock was all classic rock, and 103.7 The Buzz emerged to fill the niche left by the shift of 99x. 103 died, 99x died and went online only: http://www.99x.com/ And 96 Rock became an excellent mix station of classic rock with modern rock/metal, now called Project 9-6-1. Highly advise to give their stream a shot: http://www.project961.com/main.html Though the past few weeks, I've been tuning in to Pandora.com for listening tuned to what I'm feeling like each day.

Pandora is good , but you can't just turn it on and leave it while you work on something away from your computer. If you walk away from your computer, or don't like/dislike songs for a little while it will stop playing. Its easy enough to fix, but I like putting on radio so I don't have to fiddle with flipping records, or picking new albums. With itunes or the radio I am good for atleast 2-3 hours and can sit on the floor making a collage, or clean my apartment, etc.
