Can you hire unpaid interns on Craigslist?

i'm getting different feedback, CList says "no free internships," yet google has some blogs about intern hirings from clist..

currently share pooled secretaries, but my slave master gave me thumbs up if i wanted to extend some of my grunt work (mostly personal) to an unknowingly bright eyed college student who wants to put a desirable firm name on their resume despite the shit work i plan to give him (expense/hourly sheets, excel magic, food runs, laundry, etc) all unpaid...

furthermore, to loophole this craigslist law if still in effect, do i have to abide by minimum wage standards or can i pay say $3/hr (only assuming if no free internship postings allowed) since technically he's an intern.

Call him a "waiter" and then you'll only have to pay him ~$2/hr.

I believe you can offer a stipend, call it travel and meal expenses, per day or visit and get away with paying them $10 or so. That would be a positive thing to do anyway.

We contact the local college career services. They do all the work for us and send us interns willing to do all that crap.

This intern thing is so foreign to me. I have never heard of anyone doing one here in Canada (unpaid).

It's much less common here. You can have someone as an unpaid intern, you're just not allowed to ask them to do anything that they would otherwise be paying someone to do. Obviously this opens up a huge grey area in employment law here.
