Go for it. Just make sure you have the dealership on speed dial. That engine can be, uhm, "exotic" in its temperament. Heh.

As for needing more space, well, my only car is a small two seater and I manage to get along. The R8 may actually have more storage room than my Miata.

Yea well the 4 year 50,000 mile drivetrain warranty is pretty nice. That would last me a little while anyways.

to the guy who made the comment 'you will be viewed as a douche...'
do you think he or anyone really cares what people who don't know him think? on the flipside, i do believe that is quite an extraordinary sum to be spending on a car at a young age. while on a much smaller scale i bought cars that were a little too pricey before and realized it doesn't really make much sense. splurge on the house, the car's an afterthought.

I'm not the guy who made the douche comment, but yeah- most people do. Those that say they don't are either lying, sociopathic, or enlightened beyond anything that I could possibly imagine.

This is the collar popping, Ed Hardy equivalent in terms of douchebaggery. Please if you decide to buy an R8, do not drive it in the snow with snow tires.

I didn't say "I think you're a douche" and pass judgment (on the contrary, the OP does not come off as a douche), but rather explicitly say what others are going to think when a 22 year old goes zipping around in a $130,000 sports car as their daily driver.

No, I really don't care, seriously.

No it's not. The garage queens which are driven only on nice days are the worst.

It just tells everyone you are too awesome or too poor to afford a proper vehicle to go plowing through the snow with. It won't even be an enjoyable or warm ride - hence sports car in 4 inches of snow is just for show.

The R8 will hold its value rather well compared to a non exotic. But if it's going to be a daily driver, you will lose money on it for sure. Not to mention that at 22, the insurance for an R8 will cost and arm and a leg, and then maybe a kidney on top of that.

As for the Audi 4.2 V8s... those things are amazing. I drive an 01 Audi S8 (that I got for less than the cost of a new Kia. It was only slightly more expensive than a A4 and cost less than an S4 of the same year.) The R8 engine is based off the same engine, which has been around for a while. Audi experts call the 4.2 Audi V8s bulletproof. I've had zero issues with mine so far. However, other parts do get expensive.

Yea that's another thing I'm concerned about. Insurance. I have a perfect driving record, but I've only had my license for 5.5 years or so. I looked at some charts and insurance estimates for the R8 which actually didn't seem too bad but I'm sure mine will be on the higher end of the scale.
