Facial Hair: Does this Happen to You?

I shave using a Norelco Arcitec electric razor but I've noticed this when doing a straight shave as well:

I frequently get some hairs that aren't ingrown, but noticeably thick and stubby. Usually on the jawline. I check them in the mirror and sure enough they are thicker and darker than their surrounding hairs. So during the day I'll sit at my desk and pinch em with fingernails to yank them out. Occasionally with tweezers. Well when they come out, I notice there's actually like 5 to 10 hairs all stuck together! Is this normal? I'm getting them by the root usually.

I mean sometimes on my legs, arms and probably face you have the occasion where there are multiple hairs coming out of the same pore. It happens. One thing that's weird is when i grow my facial hair out, i have really dark hair almost black (facial hair is black) but there are always a few rogue hairs that are an auburn color. Weird

Yes, exactly! "Clusterhair" is a good term

All the damn time, except I'm getting white ones now too (I'm only 33, but my beard is now almost completely white, inspite of very few gray hairs on my head).

I've read that part of the reason is that today's razors cut too close to the skin.

That would seem to make sense. I guess the only thing to combat this is to shave less or use some sort of safety razor

happens to me fairly frequently

I suffered ingrown hairs all my life until I started using single blade safety razors, and straight razors. I haven't had ingrown hairs since I switched about a year ago. There's a great forum called Badger and Blade where you can get more info, and lots of people with great advice.

I don't understand some of the advice in this thread. Electric razors don't shave as close as blades and blades make one more susceptible to ingrown hairs because of how close they shave.

Might be recessive gene... Anyone in your family (grandparents) have freckles?
I've got black hair and olive skin, but blue eyes, freckles and quite a bit of "red" in my beard too (nowhere else though)

+1. I'm confused...
Maybe something to do with better hygiene and clogged pores?

Do you guys have curly or wavy hair? I've heard that's a common reason for ingrowns

I like plucking those fuckers. They don't hurt as bad as the regular hairs when you pluck them.

Yes I've noticed this too. I see several are commenting on ingrown hairs, but that's definitely not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about a single pore having like 5-10 hairs all stuck together for whatever reason.
