I'm not sure what I think of a royal blue suit. I am toying with the idea of putting one in my rotation, but it sure is an arresting color - perhaps too arresting. I don't want to scare the children.

Thoughts on royal blue?

The few I've seen worn have looked very cheap and not appropriate for business settings.

Only do this in dupioni, and only if you want to look like gigolo.

Maybe this would work at a Mediterranean resort, but I can't imagine it in any major city.

So then how far can one stray from navy and still be legit?

One guy who wanders around here in bright colored suits. He has an olive complexion and looks Italian. Not sure how well it works for him, but it is striking so I figure about 20,000 people know who he is.

No. I have that color (in mohair) and it is much too dull, metalic and grayish to be considered royal blue.

Most of these aren't royal blue, royal blue has an electric quality to it. I have a wool bomber jacket from YSL that is royal blue and it is everything but inconspicuous.

So what would we call that color? Air Force blue?

Why stop at just royal blue?

Blue is fine, it distinguishes it from navy. Some of the suits posted are bluish-gray, others dark blue bordering on navy.
