Traffic ticket - appeal worth it? (sho'nuff-style drawings included) PRICE CUTS 3/16! - Page 3

Hearing was this morning. Short story short, I was found not responsible.

But it was kind of a letdown. Here I was in a tastefully edited, court appropriate, not-too-rich-not-too-sloppy internet clothing fori senior year ensemble, and all I got was a cop and a lady, alone in this huge fucking room.

I told my story with google maps street-level screencaps assiduously resized and color printed at Kinko's the night before, and the referenced section of MUTCD copypasta, also printed at Kinko's the night before. 2 minutes in, well before I was done, she interrupts and says "I'm giving you a break and finding you not responsible." I was prepared for pomp but got apathy. I felt gypped and determined that next time my transgression would be more severe, worthy of real courtroom drama.

With a flick of the pen it was over, and I was $25 poorer for hearing fees (which bothers me - why should I pay when I am not responsible?). I celebrated by buying some cocktail equipment at the new Davis Square cocktail equipment joint.

Kinda is odd you have to pay when not at fault.

congratulations. some will say it wasnt worth it economic-wise as it costed you time, money and effort to save yourself a mere 75 bux, but to me, that is not the point.

sometimes you have to do what your principles push/urge you to do.

sometimes you have to fight even still knowing that you will lose or will be outnumbered but you need to proclaim your principle.

Thanks. Yeah I think that is the name. It is a cool place. It is small, but I think the real value is in the guy who was working there (maybe he was the owner, I don't know). He really knew his shit and took time to teach me how to use everything. Kind of like Stel's or Drinkwater's for barwares. If it were selling clothing it would be SF approved to put it another way.

Well that and insurance reasons. It was worth it to me to keep a pristine record. But I agree on principle.

oh yeah that too. i forgot about that.

insurance is a b*tch. my wife gets one ticket for not stopping at a red stop sign (point not taken off because she doesnt like traffic school ) and one small fender bender (other party files injury )
now i pay TWICE what i used to pay in auto insurance.

Rob a liquor store at gun point. Then you'll be sure to get the drama you are looking for.

I got dinged $100 for going 45mph... Which was exactly the speed limit before... FUCK. Irony, I was on the way back from the bank after depositing a $100 cheque.

We have a similar road in my hometown. It's 55mph on a winding road, and then after a big downhill it immediately drops to 30mph. I had NEVER seen a cop camping out at that spot until the day I got dinged for doing 45 in a 30 (I was braking down to the 30mph...).

Luckily the judge is the wife of my old Little League coach so she saw me, said hi, and let me off with just a $50 fine (was $150) and no points or classes needed.

Now that I think about it, the 4 times I've been pulled over for speeding, I never once got points. However I did have to go to a boring 6 hour safety class, chock full kids who went to my college, when this A-Hole cop got me doing 38 in a "School" 20 zone (the lights were not blinking on the sign which would indicate the lower speed limit) which I pointed out to the officer but he didn't want to hear it....

May want to check the regulations on this one. In CA, changes in speed zones should be either 5 or 10 mph and not exceeding 10 mph.
