They're 'special' now but I don't think you could think about putting them in your normal rotation It's not just the edges, some of the main pieces show incipient breakdown.

Do you mean scales coming off, or the edge of leather pieces being rather natty?

What is mismarked about them? I've seen a fair number of these and they look authentic to me.

I would be very interested in knowing if I am mistaken and why.

The cufflinks are fairly easy to come by - usually for around $150. But, as you said the tiebar is much harder to find.
