I would have to say that you were damn lucky to get a refund.

it's a lot for anything on 2nd hand market like ebay/SF, especially a style like this which never found hugely wide admiration

similar styles like this were selling for around $500 new on SF, and I bought (and sold) a lightly used pair for less than $400 last year. I think like the Giffords RL had a firesale at one point where they sold these really cheap, like 50% off

there may be some premium to be paid since they are now nearly NOS I guess

I don't know if this is new news or what, Ive refreshed the RL site so many times, but the Sandersons seem to have a new "Limited time sale" tag on them, to $315, plus the code of NOV0307.... looks like they added a new color too.

The second half of my Saphir order arrived today. wasn't a good sign when it was an envelope (For shoe polish? Being sent internationally? Really?!?). Then i noticed the outer envelope was a French postal service bag. the kind that when the original envelope is damaged, they have to put it in so it doesn't lose all of it's contents. The original envelope was torn. I Then tried to get into it and my hands were covered in shoe polish. The tins were damaged and there was wax everywhere. Some won't close. Guess I'll write the guy and see what's up.

On top of that there was wrong product - this order was to be all past Medaille D'or wax. There were Beaute de Cuir cremes substituted for some of the Medaille D'or. Guess I'll write the guy and see what's up.

sounds disappointing.

After simmering down, I realized that there were bonus Beaute de Cuir cremes were extras thrown in there as a mistake. While I might have normally been psyched to get free cremes, the bonus Beaute creme jars all broke in the envelope. All the tins of Medaille are accounted for, but most are unusable due to lost contents and the tins are dented (many won't close). Hope we can work something out...

After cleaning up, disappointed but damn does my office smell good from the Medaille.

He sent me my order twice. Strangely they were sent on the same day, but arrived a week apart.

^ ha, what a seller. such a mixed bag of goodies. I guess I should feel fortunate to have just received a complete order, free of any defect

Not to rub salt in the wounds or anything.......

But I received an order of Saphir stuff from Kirby at the Hanger Project. Shipped in a sturdy box, nicely wrapped and packaged. Shipped quickly and no worries. Sometimes full retail is worth it!

Although I will be the first to admit I was sorely tempted to order from the ebay discounter. The only reason I didn't was that by time I got around to it there were already reports on here of the cruddy shipping. So thanks for posting your experiences - it saved me the hassle!

Don't you love it when some guy who gets a job lot of colossal shoes and does not know what they are worth gets approached by some behind the scenes buyer with "the offer you could not refuse"?
