Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Part II - Page 29

^^They look like masterpiece quality (or something close), imo. They appear to have the handwritten last/sizing info written on the inner sock line in a manner similar to the masterpiece. Also, the full channeled soles is something I have not seen on Rose. Also, a great looking pair of CJ Shell loafers. Not sure what the shade is/was, but I wish they were my size!

They also have bevelled waist which I haven't seen on Rose. And the last looks very similar to my Masterpiece oxfords.

Is the consensus that Grenson UK sizing is approximately down 1 from US? i.e.: Grenson 8 = US 9?

None of these are my size, but will be good to know for future reference. Those shoes look great!

I would be interested in another pair or Masterpieces, but I have the feeling that price won't be reasonable
I just took some photos of mine, unworn yet, bought in November last year, I think they are similar to these. Model that seems hand written inside and on the box is 35307-2354.

Nice shoes, but why are you not wearing them?

Trying to imitate Aportnoy. I must have more than 20 pairs of shoes unworn yet...

If they are actually masterpieces, most likely they are contract work subs, possibly for Paul Stuart. That would explain why they are on ebay as well.

kmdsimpson - yes, size down a full size. I generally wear a 10.5D in most AE lasts, and my 9.5 UK Grensons are a good fit. I also have size 10UK Grensons - those need thick socks and/or an insole. So, size down a full size.

+1 for a full size down on GMs.

Anyone heard of Barrett shoes? I haven't, but they look well-made based on these pics; but the price is still a little rich for my blood.

I saw the model at Isetan department store in Japan. A salesman told me clearly that it was made expressly for isetan and that although it's on the masterpiece last with some masterpiece details; channeled sole and handwritten size, its leather quality is of rose collection standard. Actually, it was almost the same price as other rose collection models. 30000 yen($300) cheaper than masterpiece models.

Santoni (Goodyear welted ). The $40 shipping cost is crazy, but still a good deal.

Barrett is a good quality English shoe, probably on par with Cheaney but 250-300 is not a good price on them. They retail for less than 500 us.
