+1 Trust me. I know.

Others seem to be joining in to this low -start- auction- no- reserve trend for Lobbs.

John Lobb Bloomsbury UK11.5E 8000 Brown Calf

Same seller has a few other sizes as well - all marked Rs; he's made a trip to the Lobbs store and is probably trying to subsidize his trip to Engerland.

Alden 9901, 6.5E, Black shell ptb. BIN $185. Seller has several pairs of Aldens in this size range -- and has slightly messed up the postings. One can't gauge heel wear from the pictures. http://cgi.ebay.com/Alden-Black-Genu...#ht_500wt_1156

That is pretty silly. Fix the eyelets and add a leather sole and they would be pretty nice.

Couple of reasons:
- I thought the whole "1000 mile heritage" shtick was half made up. I am really impressed that these look very similar to the current ones
- they are deadstock but still wearable (advertised as "Stay soft" and holy shit, they weren't kidding)
- they are shell (even if not very visible)

PS if I were Wolverine Co. and didn't have a comparable archive of this shoe, I would authorize an intern to buy it for up to $1000

sold, for $500 (not to me)
