It was / is a 40R, so it's only one size down - should just be a small amount out of the back and side seams and drop the sleeves as far as they'll go

Sometime in the 1980s for a short time I believe...
Cole Haan really went through some ups and downs. At one point in the early 1990s they were even selling Russia Calf leathergoods!

I don't think they're shell. The auction says they are pebble grain, and AE has NEVER made a shell cordovan pebble grain. They have, however, accidentally put shell cordovan soles on a calfskin model.
