Pricier, but Paul Stuart has several options online, probably more in the store. You could always swing by the store and see what they have.

BB Peal, probably C&J maybe AS, algonquin split toe, brown grain, size 10D, cheap BIN $58.99 + 10.99 shipping.

If I didn't already have the AS Charlton I'd buy these in a heartbeat. Almost bought 'em anyway, but since I'm not I figured I'd post 'em here. These won't last long.

(LOL at the 6.99 on the right heel.)

I saw the discussion of formal pumps a few pages back, but was wondering if anyone had recommendations for those on a student budget. Is a true tuxedo shoe achievable for <$150 or <$100, or am I better suited to putting a shine on my cap toe balmorals?

Go with a high shine on your black shoes. Don't spend $150 on something that you will only need once in a blue moon, especially as a student.

never purchase a pair of pumps. the days of wearing pumps sank with the titanic

Really? I kind of like them. I see them on eBay every once in a while although I've never actually pulled the trigger.

I saw a pair of PRL gator pumps once that I would have bought (were they my size). Outside of that they are really too "dandy" for real-world use. Just owning/wearing a proper tuxedo is enough to get people talking. Safe to say pumps would fair far worse.

I'd opt for whole-cuts or a velvet slipper (if you want a bit more dandy charm).
