Mr. Porter Awesomeness thread is ******* ridiculous. "I bought this at 70% off and it went down to 80% off a week later! I'm demanding they refund me!" I could understand if it was a few hours, but seriously? Of course they're going to raise the discount once the size choice dwindles, anyway.

I've seen very few nice things bought from Porter during this sale season.

ohhhhhhhhhhh shut up, that's a personal opinion. porter doesn't really cater to your style thus seeing "very few nice things" is obsolete. :foo:

@Unc I'm a US 10.5 and size 9 Butteros fit me when I tried them on at Barneys. They were a different model though, but they definitely run pretty large

Huh, thought I posted that in random fashion thoughts.

Also what the **** does it matter? You think I can't like things outside of what I would wear? This is the laziest response ever and I guess you never notice which looks I rep. And no **** it's a personal opinion. This is a fashion forum -- everything posted here is a personal opinion. It's inherently subjective discussion.

Hrm I guess we'll see :( Can probably flip them pretty easily if they don't fit.

The Mr Porter sale was fantastic but I agree that it's ridiculous to call and ask for the further discount. I wouldn't even consider doing that. What about the people who bought at full price, i.e. the people who really keep the stores in business? Do they get to call up and get an 80% refund now?

I am the same size as unc and they fit me fine with no insole plus they are pretty high so even if they are a little big just lace em tighter

no but the whole point is that there was ALOT of nice stuff on the porter sale idiot, just because it isnt aesthetically pleasing/whatever your reason is to your eye doesn't mean it is not good.

Doesn't change the fact that the MrPorter thread is ridiculous and that ppl's purchases are overall pretty dull.

Also, I don't think you know what obsolete means, idiot.

Uncontrol, I always like what you say. Can you tell me what are these? A few example maybe?

Barney's and ln-cc(after VAT) also has stuff sold at 70%-75% off. But why no one complain?

To be fair, I pretty much agree with Uncontrol and our styles are not at all similar. I had more trouble finding something I wanted than I did finding something still available in my size. I think the Jil patterned shirt was the only thing that really caught my eye. Great for the folks that found items they wanted (or at least, convinced themselves they wanted), but I kind of agree with what Fuuma said about the available items from many of the brands being some of their less interesting pieces.

everything else in your sales thread was a 42 ... not sure i've ever worn a 42 in anything haha

as for the porter thing, well there's been a lot of items but i mean andrewgreg, almost nothing you posted seemed interesting to me, and you weren't buying such massive quantities before the sale season. people are buying stuff just because it's on sale, and it shows.

I see significant improvement of product selection during the last 6 months. They are new to menswear, things are changing. Lots of new designer being added. Maybe for the beginning stage of their business, they are trying to be safe. Net-a-porter, Porter's parent company, leading women fashion retailers and been in the business for 10 years. They are getting many interesting stuff.

I have not idea how their management or buying decision, but I think having more interesting piece probably not the best business decision for them at current stage, if their goal is getting more customers and having smooth increasing profit. Porter differentiate themselves from service the most at current time.

For people live in smaller cities, don't always have access of these stuff. I don't know if you ever been to the Barneys NY in Dallas, yes that's a flagship store but it's not good. There's no Givenchy, Lanvin, Ann D, Rick, MMM(RTW) etc. There's another local boutique called forty five ten but I found the same problem, their selection is also very limited. For guys like me, porter is not bad. In terms of selections, for people into traditional designers(Lanvin, Burberry) and workwear stuff, they have very decent selection.

Talking about price, even porter are getting some interesting items in, how many people are really paying retail to buy it? For example the junya fair isle blazer is very interesting(I believe most of SW&D guys say that)? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Much Appreciated
