Wait, what now? Did they really (it sounds like) make a theme park -type bar out of a really shitty movie based on really outstanding Elizabeth Gilbert article that appeared in GQ like 10-15 years ago? Because that would just be insanely weird.

I think the real bar might still open in NY...

edit: nvm, have googled and become terribly depressed. so bad! so *americanly* bad frown.gif

Mastro's in Crystals; underwhelming fish, but everything else is pretty great. I'd go for the bread basket and butter cake alone. The also have a Wolfgang Puck's pizza, which is pretty much what you'd expect and considerably cheaper.

Have heard great things about Robuchon, but it's at the MGM confused.gif

I love the fit I think but it's constricting as hell through the arms. I owe it to the fact that it's a very slim fit, but I worry it's actually too small for me.

Guy I went to high school with has been out in LV for a couple of years as a club promoter. He seems to cycle through periods of really enjoying it and lamenting how tedious/repetitive it gets. It takes a certain kind of person to live out there and actually experience any sustained level of contentedness.

Only Vegas I need is New Vegas

The dry climate alone would steer me clear from ever living there.

Hate coming back from Vegas with chapped lips and dry skin. Takes me a good week or two to feel comfortable again.

Suburbs of Vegas aren't terrible; Summerlin, Henderson, etc. are not so different from Phoenix or Orange County. Job market is pretty shallow though; very few high-level employment opportunities outside hospitality.

That said, it isn't a place I'd want to live.

This is not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I lived in summerlin for 3 years growing up. I'm just glad I never became a stripper or a casino worker.

I'm just taking my buddy and a few of his groomsmen out there for a bachelor party for 3 nights.  Not trying to live there.

Thanks for the recs though.  Time will be rotated between craps tables, partying or whatever, and now eating some hopefully good meals.  Probably won't be getting down with buffets but I know they're A Big Deal there.

The pools are the best thing in vegas.

Whatever happens in vegas stays in vegas.

Found a pretty good breakfast spot off the strip but forgot the name.
