A big problem with the internet is that everyone loves to spread their own gospel.

We need to remember that sometimes it's just better to say "I don't like that jacket".

Yea, I'm fully aware of how big Jil shoes usually fit, but if this guy's measurements are accurate (and I'm assuming they are, considering they're minute and he has 3000+ positive eBay reviews, runs an online store, etc.), they were probably mistagged or misboxed. Either way, he does returns within 14 days (damn!), or i'd prolly be happy to just sell them here to a fellow SFer at cost if they do happen to be gargantuan.

Now I still need to track down some black wool formal trousers...

I am sure some derision comes through because a lot of times people are just making assumptions about me or criticizing without any real substance. I am not sure what judgement yer talking about, fashion or just about being polite. I don't think im judgemental at all in the first case, and in the second ya becuase many people here are mean for the fun of it. Don't think my post count needs to be high for me to comment on that.

As far as the rest of your post. I pay for the clothes I buy and can buy them relatively easily at the right price because I don't spend money on other stuff. I don't drink, I don't party or go clubbing. I work 2 research jobs. My parents don't pay for anything other than my food since I live at home. My tuition was paid by loans that I took and scholarships that I won by working harder than my classmates. I don't even know how you can call me out for being pretentious after posting what you just posted without knowing me.

Also I don't know what outlandish yohji pieces you are talking about? I own 2 plain black blazers and 2 patterend blazers. All my yohji trousers are standard cut. The only outlandish pants I have are my v-ave trousers. The yohji knits I have are 2 red sweaters (one of which i guess is outlandish) and one grey turtleneck. She shoes I have are pretty much identical to dr.martens which is pretty much as basic as it gets. I also have an assortment of plain button down white shirts that i wear with the blazers and pants. Thats as basic as it gets. You actually don't need lots of basics, if you pay attention you can see that tons of people just wear simple lace up shoes a yohji pant/blazer and a white t shirt. Why don't you tell me what basics I lack?

I might not be as great as iwri or david but im working on getting better at it. I am sure neither of them woke up with a perfect sense of yohji and style.

You are young and lack the knowledge and expertise of the people who pull off Yohji well, which is all the more apparent in the Yohji thread. I'm glad that you have the means to afford these Yohji pieces, and despite your claims otherwise, it is evident that you are buying Yohji for the sake of buying Yohji. Your wardrobe still lacks the necessary basic components to wear Yohji, yet you go for some of his more outlandish, statement pieces, which is completely useless without having a solid, basic foundation. Honestly, you need to tone down the attitude, because you're just not at the level to be judgmental. Just my two cents.

oops i didn't know you couldn't include a message in a thumbs up anymore.
how can you even say all that about him and his family lol

bene, let me get this straight. you're a med school student with enough time to juggle TWO research jobs that pay well enough to finance a yohji wardrobe (on top of all your g-star and diesel) WHILE having enough time to shop online and be on sf for a good majority of the day? sorry, but that's a bluff if i ever saw one. let me point out that a quick look into your user history will show that you made almost ALL your posts from late August to now. i may not be a med student, but i have enough med student friends to say that's really not within the realm of possibility.

Side remark:

I don't know where the idea that yohji stuff is all $$$ comes from. Diligent browsing of YJP, Rakuten, eBay, B&S, etc make the cost entry barrier very low. I've purchased 2 full suits + a coat for <200 each and shirts usually go for <$100

There is a picture of me presenting my research. You can dig it up. I also used to work at marshalls

It is easy when you break up with your gf and only sleep 5 hrs a night. Try to not do anything other than work. Once you remove clutter, you can get a lot of work done.

Heres me getting my white coat in case you doubt that

And here is me in miami at UM presenting my research for the ESRF (i didnt actually give a podium presentation)
