Doesn't seem half bad if it's good fiberglass. I've never liked how the new ones are only molded plastic (even though they're #authentic).

The plastic ones are horrible. Modernica makes these with fiberglass, using the old molds from Herman Miller. It's essentially an exact replica. The one local shop that sells vintage shell chairs uses Modernica bases because they are the highest quality repros.

I've been searching for a single arm chair shell rocker for a while, and can only ever find pairs. The pricing is usually:
Herman Miller original: $500-550 minimum for one in decent condition
horrible plastic repro: ~$250
Modernica exact repro: $315 on GILT, normally $450. I'm a bit shocked to find them on GILT, given their popularity.

FINALLY I can have a nice shell chair in my WAYWT photos. Eames-style furniture is a thumbs multiplier

^Delivery is mid-late September, so it will just barely be the start of tweed/pipe season.

The modernica rocker is really nice, I went to the showroom a few months ago and ever since it has been on my radar to purchase. Great pickup zissou and shore.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do really enjoy them. (A brief search on that forum yielded mostly positive, if only lukewarm, reviews of the MIE2 model.) My experience with high-end audio technology is extremely limited, and that forum's lack of stickied topics, makes it fairly tough to figure out where exactly they lean when it comes to buying in-ear headphones. I'll do a bit of wandering there, but I'll probably just keep these.

EDIT: found a good sticky on there; nevermind.

Hipster hate against those headphones is annoying.  They are terrible for monitoring uses but unless you're a musician that's not what you want anyway; they sound good, are comfortable, and will last awhile.

This database is pretty helpful and more user-friendly than the forum. The guy posts a lot there and his reviews are a good approximation of the head-fi zeitgeist

Just picked these up in 8.5. Not sure if they'll fit that well into my wardrobe or where I want my wardrobe to go, but they're fucking beautiful.
