yes for a number of reasons.

1. Leather is incredible and after reading 'how luxury lost its lustre', I determined that few can compete with hermes in terms of luxury and leathers.

2. most, if not all, mid to high quality cardholders average around $150-$300 anyway. the hermes calvi holds much more than any cardholder, looks inconspicuous and unique.

3. I wanted to invest in something personal and somewhat exclusive that would hold some meaning for me, where i'm at in my life and where i'd like to head.

4. its my birthday and i didn't really pay for it, instead combined cash gifts to fund this ;]

i read somewhere hermes has their own farms to produce their high quality leathers.  that's probably why they can charge as much as they do for their bags and stuff.  i remember when i was young i would go to hermes with my mother when she bought scarves and ties to give clients as gifts.  she'd buy 50 of each at a time.  they'd give her champagne, espresso, anything she wanted!  of course, i would always get a tie from the sale and over time i collected many hermes ties, and they are still my favorite.  their silks are unbelievable, and their ties a little eclectic.  they will always look good.

Got myself some Driessssss for the winter.

dvncoat1.jpg

FW11 double breasted wool coat in black. Got it for 320 euros from WrongWeather.

dvnpants1.jpg

FW12 wool pants in petrol blue/green (couldnt catch the exact color with my camera). Super wide on the thighs and tapered from the knee down. Love them, I may grab the same one in black (also considering the psychedelic print shirt).

Johan, how heavy is the wool on the Dries pants? They look very nice, by the way.

Very heavy ! But not coarse at all. It holds the shape nicely.
