That's crazy. It's going to be 24 hours from Tucson to Austin, and after that I think it'll be an easy series of 8-12 hour legs (or even some shorter). I'm actually thinking I might go out of my way a bit and pop over to Savannah, then head up through Athens, Nashville, Detroit. Luckily, with the unlimited pass I can make decisions on the fly.
I hear a lot of terrible Greyhound stories, but they've really cleaned up after the last few years. Built a lot of new stations, new buses, hired security guards (of varying effectualness), got the buses running more or less on time (though they still overbook all of them); it's really not a bad way to travel. I've covered a lot of miles on the bus these past few months, and really haven't dealt with anything untoward. Just a couple of delays and a few horrifically depressing life stories.
