How long are you going for? Ayutthaya is nice for a day and its only a hour or two north of Bangkok. It doesn't sound like you have the trip all planned yet, which is a good thing.

Yeah I bought a one-way because I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay.. maybe 2 weeks, maybe 2 months.

yeah I figured a week is enough time in bangkok before I move on.

this is location of Hostel http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/thailand/bangkok/24241/map/

it's a 27hr flight though ffs. vancouver to tokyo to bangkok

I guess Bangkok has become really expensive if $30/night gets you a hostel. I don't want to sound like an old fart but used to be quite a bit cheaper than that (~500 baht for a proper hotel room)

I did the same. I hope you make it two months! Do go to Cambodia it was the highlight of my SE Asia trip.

there were lots for $10/night but you had to share a room with upwards of 10+ people. I want a private for the first week just to get accustomed and then I'll probably step out of my comfort zone.

Its been 4 years but the guest house situation is nothing like advertised when I was there. If yours staying in Banglampoo (Khoasan Rd's neighborhood) places like this Sawadsee Inn were $16 a night. The only thing shared is the bathroom. You shouldn't have any trouble paying around that much for a private room because of the season.

I used to pay $7 a night for a bungalow on the beach in Koh Samet ... I thought about staying there forever

i got a gore tex performance shell jacket but can't decide if i should keep it or return it given the price--it was $820

467

i wanted a stylish jacket that is waterproof and durable. the fit on this is pretty good (my mirror is too small). thoughts?

Why did you spend so much on Gore tex?  You can get Arcteryx for half that.

Paint splattered MMM came in today. Didn´t have to pay a lot for customs (finally) ´cause they marked down the price.

What goddamn brand is it for Gore-Tex?! WM is barely that pricey
post #27330 of 46033
What? Dude WM is that pricey, often more. $820 is a sale price on WM gore-tex, lol. That jacket looks like Veilance to me.

edit: wait you dudes know goretex is a fabric right?
