It's probably hit and miss.

I have a pair of Saks house brand shoes that are made in portugal, slightly above AE standards in a much more pleasing last.
99% of shoes we talk about are benchmade anyway so the difference is not that much as long as you're getting blake/rapid or goodyear, and they've used full grain leather. the markups for chaneled soles and name brands seem a bit arbitrary, especially when they're still pretty much made the same way.

Just my experience as a consumer.

I don't want anyone to think that I think i'm a trade insider or anything, but the reality is that almost all shoes out there are factory made using the same methods, whenever you go above about $300.
There's nothing wrong with this, just that often "construction" is incorrectly cited when choosing one brand over another.
Most of it is just design. Synth and fuuma get this. they buy margiela shoe because they're very well designed and perfect for the look they want. Not out of some infatuation with their quality or anything like that.


Basically I just want to argue the point, not the ends. buy whatever you like.


In your case toasty I think the sooner July comes the better. Although sometimes we need to learn these things for ourselves. God knows it took me long enough.

actually the weird thing is that MC, for all their "buy quality, timeless classic" memes seem to have a harder time understanding this than most people around here.

It's not enough for them to justify what they buy by saying "I like the design".

There's a shoemaker over there who has told them exactly what's up with dissections of shoes from various brands and there's this weird sorta selective ignorance that pervades them. I don't think that would be a problem here because people are more at peace with the fact that they buy for design.

I just got an email from them earlier today—they deduct it automatically as long as you specify (as you must) that you live in the US.
