Yeah. Would have kept those Barney's cap toe but seriously how could you send out a display model with creases already set. Dude was nice but I felt taken advantage of as well when ordering.

Your expectations are probably too high for Barney's brand shoes

2 out of 3 I received were in excellent condition with extra shoe horn and laces. Would definitely buy again but be more cautious. Hopefully one day I can have nicer shoes like you gdl

toasty, i was at barneys yesterday and the barneys brand shoes had pretty crappy leather imo, leather was just bad, for 200 bucks you are not getting alden quality which i consider the mainstream of mc/sw&d brands, if you want thick strong good quality leahter you have to pay for it

I just think you would be better off investing in 4 pairs of well-made quality shoes rather than buying multiple versions of black dress shoes that are not of particularly good quality. Barney's house brand is hit or miss in general but for dress shoes, it's quite unimpressive

shoe horns and laces cost like $1-2

I have five pairs of shoes and boots and one pair of sneakers, and that's pretty much all I need. I wouldn't mind a pair of natural oxfords for summer, though...

toasty will never be happy. he's a reincarnation of kvc.

I went a bit nut lately, ended up buying 5 pair of shoes.

Church's Consul - got a very good deal from bluefly for $318 -  brand new shoes and are not 2nds - Soft leather, amazing stitching details, and very good fit.

Herring Shoes Burgh boot -  Its a Loake in disguise, but storm welted. I bought it because I love the shade of tan leather they are using. I have been using it as my every 2nd day shoe in rotation. The leather on the boot was very stiff at the beginning but has softened a lot after 7-8 brief wears and now is like 2nd skin, very comfortable too.

BB Cordovan plain toe blutcher #8  - They are Alden plain toe Cordovans on BBs spec, they last is narrower and elongated, I like it.

BB perforated/punched cap toe - Very sleek shoe and soft leather, made by CnJ apparently.

BB plain toe brown blucher - made by CnJ, I got them because I just love the color, very dark brown almost chocolate shade. The toe shape narrows at front and the double sole on them give very aggressive look. I just love the color.

Got the BBs on 30% discount few weeks ago, used the saving to buy Church's. Had to pay full price on cordovans and tbh I don't mind paying for it, it has that oomph factor to justify the price.

Now I spend my time paranoid and hiding my shoes from the wife, fearing that she ll make me either return them and outrageous $hopping for her as penalty or I will be listening it from her till I go deaf and outrageous $hopping for her as penalty.

Got a mini trunk and hid it in storage, which has my shoe rack and shoes, hopefully I will be able to keep my secret.

Next target - JL, but that will be at Christmas, for those interested mrporter.com is running sale on JLs from 30-50%. I am all tapped out of storage.

Definitely happy with these.

these looks great. i find it curious how some people proclaim how grossly overpriced MMM non-sneaker footwear is compared to what you get, yet your footwear collection seems to suggest otherwise redface.gif

these boots are margiela... right?

Your opinion is valid as you probably handled a lot more different makes of shoes than me, but for practical reasons they are a great shoe for me at the moment. Actually I agree that the leather and sole is rather cheap for a $200 shoe, another reason I am returning the 3rd pair with creases already set. Going to take a hiatus from shopping in July anyways so we will see how my spending habit is curved.

Wisdom has it to just purchase 4 great quality shoes ... understood.

Sort of true except with kvc I think his niche was buying and flipping on B&S. I tend to buy at places with return policies as I have learned that is the best option if you can swing it.

The other two I cannot say the same as they fit all the details I want right now. The shoehorn and laces were never really a concern but more of a formality and detailing the fact that I was sold "used" footwear under the impression I was buying new.

mc = http://www.carminashoemaker.com/ legit stuff, see http://www.styleforum.net/t/241469/carmina-shoe-p0rn

sw&d is a cluster fuck sadly, and prices fluctuate with sales all the time, just go with buttero boot from barneys and you'll be happy, the shoto combat felt pretty good too but thin leather

marsell... well moo picked up the best looking one imo, there is always trickers
