Haven't seen it in person yet, but this season seems mostly boring unforunately.

Dude that particular jacket is unlined and made of polyester... It is very nicely cut (although the sizing is off-they fit one size too small) and the trims and raw edges are nice, however it suffers from Lanvin overdesign. Jil Sander by Raf Simons (for men) is one of the most irrelevant label ever. Lanvin has been pretty weak for a while. At least you didn't pick the complete suckage that is Prorsum.

You know a shitload more about this stuff than I do, but even I can see that this is an overstatement.

It brings nothing and no one cares, no one wears it? I mean a few dudes in the art world still buy the tailor made suits cause they did it during Jil's reign but c'mon. BTW some of the individual pieces are quite wearable but as a brand it is pointless. I like the electric blue jacket SQ bought but that's not the point.

it's a summer jacket. if it was lined i wouldn't be able to wear it in the summer. technically it is nylon which is different from polyster, but regardless, there is nothing inherently bad about synthetic fabrics. they serve a distinct function and exhibit properties unmatched by naturally occurring ones. also, one has to appreciate the engineering that goes into man-made fabrics just as much as one appreciates the evolutionary process that led to natural fabrics like silk.

i don't really see how raw edges are overdesign. in fact they are just the opposite; the fabric is simply cut and sewn together. that's it.

with regards to their sizing being off, i agree. i'd say im more of a 46 but i need a 48 in most lanvin blazers/tailored tops. however, being an avid rick fan, i can't imagine screwy sizing being something you can actually hold against a designer/label.

i don't know why you would say jil + raf or prorsum is garbage. neither one of them has strayed from their original roots. SS11 jil is incredible.

i don't understand how an entire brand can be regarded as pointless while many individual pieces remain wearable. when is an entire collection ever considered 100% perfect?

isn't the point of designers...to design?

otherwise we'd just end up with a whole range of "classics" (cue style not fashion garbage) and we'd all just go to tailors not designers for their house cut.

The lanvins a nice jacket, but don't try to justify it by saying the nylon is something special, its the same nylon used in crappy water proof coats, its not like its ballistic nylon, its mass produced its not like you get artisan nylon. I think by over designed he mean't all the zips and buttons. I've tried the jacket on so I have seen it, its nice, its just dumb to try to justify its superiority by talking about the evolutionary process of nylon.

Dude listen to Fuji on this. Just be all like "blow me, whatever!" If you like it just go with it and don't give a flying **** what people have got to say. As long as your fits are solid no one will have anything to say. Since you care what others think. I like it.
