^ Will do. If I'm to believe what UPS tells me, they should be here tomorrow.

They look pretty muted on my monitor - kind of a dark olive - but IDK how that will translate to real life.

fwiw they did get made in black. Saw them at some Japanese shop that only buys everything in black...not on the website anymore though

Quick review of the Raf rivet hi-tops before I return them:

There are some decent qualities to them: The leather is reasonably supple, they have a CP outsole (the sizing is the same as CPs) but a removable footbed (which is pretty comfortably, kinda like the footbed on MMM GATs), and the profile at the front of the shoe is pretty sleek. The color's also decent; it's a dark olive/army, fairly unique but still subtle, and not puke-ish. The rivets aren't bad, and I guess I'm kind of neutral on them.

Overall, though, not worth keeping. The first thing that jumps out is the stupid flaps over the eyelets of the laces. They're not sewn down anywhere, so one of them was sort of sticking up right out of the box. Any decent cobbler could cut them off cleanly without otherwise affecting the rest of the shoe, though, so it's a problem with an easy solution.

The bigger problem is that once you hit the ankle, the shoe gets really bulky. There's a bunch of padding around the shaft and more in the tongue, so they end up being kinda puffy. You pretty much have to tuck unless you're wearing fairly straight-leg jeans, and they look pretty extreme with the tongue sticking out.

The way the laces and tongue work together is a little odd, too. The tongue velcros to the shaft, but it's roomy enough that you can still slip the shoe on and off without untying it. The problem is, you get significant heel slip that way. If you try to tighten the laces to the point where you don't get heel slip, the tongue folds up and looks weird.

You needs a visa for many places and they sometimes have high fees associated, hell some places you have to pay a fee at the airport to be able to fly out. I dunno why Americans assume their passport is universal...

Can either of you two speak about their turtlenecks?

Considering the chunky/oversized look in grey

just fyi, in case it's of use to anyone, Opening Ceremony carries Chauncey as well, so if you're near one you can go check it out in person. Their stuff is nice.

....Yeah thats great and all but I have traveled A LOT and have never encountered these fees other than in Cuba. Point is its my nation of birth I shouldn't have to pay these fees (if they were reasonable then ok) but they are ridiculously bloated. Does France make you pay a fee to get back in?...

The EU is an exception, but for a lot of countries that don't have the same kind of relationship with the US you don't get the VIP treatment.

^ depends what national policies and interests you've sold to the US.

Do you mean you've never encountered airport fees? Or passport fees? Most central american airports charge you some sort of invented fee upon arrival and departure (service fee, courtesy fee, whatever), and everywhere has passport renewal fees. 2g is a lot. Maybe they figure since you left and decided to go back you have money to spare?
