Taxes and shaken (mandatory bi-yearly car inspection) are also like 1/3 the cost of a full car - I pay like $600-700 a year instead of $2000. Also, with gas prices over $7 a gallon, the mileage it gets over a full size is nice..
yeah thats exactly why I want one, I'm gonna buy a 'real' car too, but I think I want I'd to get a small car to put junk miles on and take the dog places in. Something I can really schlepp around without worrying about it. I wonder how electric cars get taxed and shaken'd? I saw a public parking lot in Akasaka with plug-in stations but that was the first I'd noticed, and I haven't really seen many electric cars around in general still. Maybe like one LEAF and one i-Miev each, that's in comparison to the like, 1,000 AMG Mercedes and 15 Ferraris you see per week in Tokyo, lol.
