Yeah the depth and breadth of discussion is what I really enjoy more.

Most of the good posters have somewhat of a uniform anyway, how many people wear:

White Crewneck T
Raw Blue / Black Denim
White Sneaks

as a base?

Its pretty much the same, except people layer things on top with outerwear / leathers / design pieces etc rather then being like "well I'm done I guess , got like 8 more W+H hoodies for a sweet rotation"

I don't think so, this discussion is WAY better, more interesting threads and quite a few new good posters. People always romanticise the way things used to be, but real talk, it was pretty boring.
WAYWT doesn't equal the total of SF, sales thread is a goldmine (risk vs fail lulz) the baller sneakers thread was great (not really SF's fault thats its not so good anymore) the baller footwear thread is great, ToJ is great, Should Shouldn't I buy, Someone should kop threads are great.
Im pretty happy with SF, its a better mix now of workwear / streetwear / high fashion / avant garde components that mix well for the most part.

I disagree about the discussion being way better now. SW&D, as a collective, is into buying more interesting brands now. But the actual discourse a couple of years ago seemed to hold more substance. You had a trove of people here who were good for several articulate, well-thought out posts on a near-daily basis. There's not as much of that anymore. The ToJ thread is great if you can hack through the endless string of sizing and delivery-related posts. Some of the digressions among the likes of shah and sipang in various threads are usually pretty interesting, too.

Overall, though, it seems like there's now a LOT more space dedicated to bickering and hollow "#swag"-type posts. SF is still a great place to become more informed about clothing, particular brands, etc. I just think Pete is on the money when he says there's more of a conspicuous consumption mentality now and I'm not sure that and consistently good discussion can co-exist.

I went through and looked at a ton of old WAYWT pages from several years ago, and the majority of the fits were laughably bad, and largely bland. There were a few really great fits sprinkled in here and there, but I think the current WAYWT is lightyears ahead. What do you guys think?

True that man, there was a lot less bickering and general garbage fights among SF brethren.

I might not notice it because i pretty much just hang read good posters pieces anyway, but people were nicer back then.

Somone should do "The Official Affordable Swag Thread"

That could be a good threak in the making

I'm really wishing I hadn't listed brands in that Rick fit I posted a couple days ago, just to see if the reaction would have been different.  Not saying it was perfect by any means, but apparently trying to wear a RO jacket like you would a toj/schott is highly frowned upon...

That would be like signing up for a weed forum and yelling "HAHA YOU STONER FUCKS" over and over

I've only been here for three years, but it seems like the above usually stems from one of the follow:

- The outfit is shit, even though it cost a lot to put together
- The outfit is just a patch-work of presently favored SF pieces
- It's clear the person is spending a lot of someone else's money to put together mediocre or bad outfits

You've had guys like Fuuma, GoSurface, Synthese, etc. who often post(ed) outfits with at least one or two pricier items in there. But they rarely got called out, if ever, over the perception that they were spending a lot of money on their clothes. And I think that's because their WAYWT offerings never fell into any of the above categories.

Probably true, but as someone who's one here quite a bit (at least during the week; almost never on weekends), I don't mind wading thru the chaff.

I also think that altho a lot of posters whose contributions/personalities I appreciated a lot have left (denimdestroyedmylife, ken, chrono, saucemaster, Ryeb GB, to name a few), there's a lot of thoughtful and active posters now who weren't (even if, admittedly, my actual clothing interests don't mesh a lot with the shah/sipang axis). Prob a net plus.

Nah man, I can remember Fuuma got flack for white sneakers, lol

SoCal used to get heaps

Jet used to get heaps (but gave it back and instigated more haha)

Quite a few others, just seems to be less hate on nice items now, rather then before IMO

SoCal got a lot of shit because he came from money. Jet, from what I remember, only had a handful of WAYWT pictures prior to this year and from I remember, they were pretty bad.

I think the criticisms for that one would have been aired regardless of whether or not you listed the brands. The jacket just looked too big.

I feel like price of clothes and interestingness of WAYWT have both gone up in the year or two I've been here.
