Barneys, it was 60% off. I'm done with navy blazer.

Mr porter is on sales for 50% off or just wait til it drops to 70%.

ok guys before you go spend $900 on this blazer with tacky gold buttons, instead get a thick as thieves jacket made to fit your body exactly for a third of the price. email jason with your stats and will get everything set up for you.

Instead of paying Jason 1/3 of $900, instead spray paint the gold buttons black for $2.95. Ask Iroh to set it up for you.

Yeah, the average item price tag and spending have definitely bloated a lot, even since I joined. A few years back people were debating buying $140 APCs for weeks. Now they're picking up discounted $240 margielas and sns hernings faster than you can scream "styleforum uniform'd!".
The "new" Mr. Moo was freaking me the fuck out too, until he pulled out the old "you cretin, you have insulted my honor and I demand satisfaction!" routine when some dude criticized his waywt a couple of days ago, and I realized things haven't really changed that much after all.

I think when I got here, the W+H hoodie, BoO oxford, APC NS, and alden indy was the uniform of choice. I distinctly remember Fuuma posting a pair of plain white Margiela trainers, and people freaking out about "WTF 400$$ FOR A SENAKER???!???1." Now every other person in WAYWT has CP's as their baseline, and Moo is copping Rick Dunks.

Get Smart is a legit dude, but I've seen some really bad TaT fits.

Since when did iroh the college kid everyone made fun of become a sartorial consultant?

What peeps are forgetting is the cost of goods in 06 was immensely cheaper. Top tier jil knits topped out at 700 not 2000, there has been an drastic increase in the overall price level for the stuff we like in the past five years even cps and boo. Weren't rick leathers like 1200 or some shit when he first came out?

Accept no substitutes my good man.

I love getting involved in navel-gazing discussion about the ghosts of styleforum past. (2)

I really do enjoy that the forum in general has broadened its scope, and fewer people demand justification of value for big $$ purchases/wardrobes, but I really liked the days when dressing well and interestingly on a budget / getting value for money was more of a focus. I know this is hypocritical as fuck, but I still get grossed out by blatant conspicuous consumption (altho I admit, I like to watch...sometimes).

Yeah the price rises have been insane

CP's were so cheap a few years ago, and RRP is madness on a lot of nice stuff

But then the discounts are like 50+% as a minimum, so the RRP isn't really indicative of what the real item retail cost is

I know on the patrik ervell webstore that nothing was sold until it went 30% off, so your going to rise your prices more then you should to deal with this

RRP on Margiela is big time crazy though

Ha, I'm actually discussing this with Synthese via PM right now, especially that last sentence.

I miss posters like chrono, who didn't have the financial means to buy high-end stuff, yet still had an understanding of what meshes with what and with who. That, for the most part, has been replaced by this "me too" atmosphere where we've got people buying into certain pieces or looks because they're well-liked around here.

There's this general tone to the forum that we're above the LV-bag toting folks out there, but I would say the difference between them and us is a lot less marked than it used to be.
