When you're there in the middle of a C+J display the swag juice of all the shoes is overwhelming.

The calvary calf from c&j will leave you disappointed. They do have the nicest lasts though out of all the mid level english shoe makers.

Good thing that I paid extra for express shipping

I'm in the same boat. I had two knits shipped right before Christmas, and I don't think they made it out of the UK before everyone took a week off.

don't start me on an MC shoe quest thing, I have a problem with addiction and I have no more space left for shoes. Plus, I only wear these kinds of shoes like twice a year.

Are we really to believe there are two main categories of dress and that most people fall squarely into one or the other? Or is what we're seeing really an expression of tribal membership, providing members with a preferred identity? For example, when a SW&D member buys shoes that MC members would approve of, he posts them in SW&D and labels them "MC shoes". It is as if he wants to wear a piece normally associated with another tribe, but in doing so he does not want to be associated with that other tribe. If so, perhaps the terms MC and SW&D are really lies designed to seem polite. Just looking though the recent purchases shows there is so much crossover that it's not really about a preferred type of clothing. Isn't it really Old Men/Conservative/Past vs. Young Men/Trendy/Current? The MC does SW&D competition about a month ago seemed to confirm this being the only real difference.

I have like 20 pairs of 'baller' sneakers and only 2 pairs of shoes I could show up to court in.

JCrew from you of all people?! Blasphemy! Jet would not approve. Although he wears Hanes so I guess we can safely ignore his opinion. Never mind I guess.

Yeah, meant to be more of an ironic thing. Although i do think that there is a difference between "MC" shoes (C&J, AS, EG, JL Vass etc) and SW&D shoes (Paul Smith, NDC, some Aldens etc).

"MC" shoes generally don't look good with jeans, they're too sleek. Which is fine by me cos i don't wear jeans too much these days anyway.

I believe you, but many others say the same things and most never post in MC. Often there is some truth hiding in such jokes, especially if they are used commonly by everyone in the group.

I don't even dress up for court. Last time I went I think I wore Julius leather, pants, and some boots. I get a perverse sense of pleasure from walking in and believing everyone is thinking "This guy is gonna loose" and then end up winning anyway. I've only done traffic court when defending myself and never lost a case. I've found most judges here to be incredibly honest and follow the law exactly, so if you're polite and your arguments are proper you will win. I suppose if it was criminal and there was a jury I'd wear something different-- not entirely sure since I've never been presented with that opportunity.

I actually own zero pairs of "MC shoes". I suppose I should have at least one set. If you could only buy one, what would you get?

Yeah, pretty much. I might even be thinking about a new theory while simultaneously talking to someone else or driving down the road. So it's not like I sit still and think for long periods of time. It's more like a constant on-going thing that happens throughout the day.
