yoox are dicks i frikken hate them but still buy from them because it's my only option.

they will never put the sale on other country sites.

also, they charge more on other country sites for the same items, even without being on sale.

also, they charge $45 as the standard shipping option to NZ, despite italy being halfway between NZ and US.

Also, they're cunts.

A.) Consumers aren't entitled to any sales, it's an active choice by the company. Contact them if you have beef. B.) You must not understand the basic ideas of business prescence in varoius areas around the globe. As well as shipping and distribution lines/ costs. Expecting the same shipping price to NZ is ludicrous... Euro to US distribution volume is much, much higher than an island halfway across the globe in a different hemisphere (which is beautiful place btw). YOOX overall is a great company and I've been a happy customer for a handful of years now.

right, but why would they have different prices for the same items? for example these mmm hitops are 100 more expensive on the NZ site i understand why shipping to NZ in general is more expensive, but why would they not offer a cheaper shipping option? the standard $45 shipping is UPS' very fast shipping which takes about 2 days, and i think is the same price to anywhere in the world. Surely they could offer a cheaper option which takes 1-2 weeks (like they do on the US site i believe).

+1, do not understand why they have different prices for the same items as well. It doesn't make any sense.

They normalize the prices to the retail prices in the destination country. The import taxes, luxury goods taxes, etc... for your location are likewise taken care of. The same is true of retailers like LuisaviaRoma as well. It's a lot better than getting a big customs bill when you receive the goods. How is this not easy to understand.

Shipping
Italian Post blows shipping into, and I presumably out of the country. The USPS system with its flaws, but overall is many times over more reliable, cheaper, and efficient than anything to do with domestic post service into/out of Italy. This is likely why to have any sort of efficiency it must be shipped non UPS, DHL, FedEx via Air this is why it happens in the 2 days you mention. USPS does not have that many cheap of options actually to NZ, AUS for necessary tracking. Everything is generally by air, all that's changed is processing times. The only way to ship cheaper is by boat. USPS hasn't done anything like that in 4-5 years because of unreliability. Actually, those shoes via cheapest 6-10 day USPS shipping to Australia would be $40+ anyway (with tracking). NZ I imagine is similar, or slightly more. Pricing As for price differences... Those who are out of scope of Europe and not in selected trade countries with europe have pricing in Euro likely because YOOX doesn't have any sort of physical presence in those countries for returns/ support. Then these Euro prices are converted to standard currency for the country. U.S. prices on those ugly yellow high tops were likely converted to USD for the U.S. site 4-5 months ago when the ratio of Euro to Dollar was quite different at 10-15% less. Take that difference applied on a 350 EUR item. Not to mention Italy may have a different tax setup/laws for U.S. shipping compared to other countries. The item also may be a return and physically located in U.S. and not Italy. This doesn't make up all the differences, as they can be priced however they like. I'm not an expert on the business model, but I do know volume of business is much higher here or they wouldn't advertise nearly as much on U.S. websites, or have a warehouse and support in this country. In fact I've seen prices in U.K. and Italy site that were 10-30% cheaper than same item in U.S... We always don't get it perfect either. Ultimately, they sell a vast array of luxury items from mostly Europe that likely would not physically be in NZ in a store. They're normal, non-sales, prices are 30-60% less than retail usually, and commonly have sales beyond that for dirt cheap near the end. Overall, a really unique business, that overall is quite good. I don't work for them, but have thought about the company from time to time from all the orders I've placed.

Nah this is wrong. They add the duties at the checkout. On my last order they added $60 for duties and taxes. the US must have some type of free trade agreement with Italy because apparently that doesn't happen on the US site.
  • prices on NZ site higher
  • shipping higher
  • add import duties at checkout
The difference comes out to this: a $290 item on the US site comes out to be $575 after shipping and taxes on the NZ site, which usually is more than retail.

I'll give you this - prices on US brands like Vince are often at above US retail. They clearly don't have the best algorithm for figuring out what is a fair price in a given country. But generally, as has been mentioned, a really good resource.

o yeah definitely. i don't really hate them it's just annoying to see the price difference.

It's at the point where i'm considering getting someone in the US to order and then ship it to me. Probably save around $100 for a $150 order, but would have to wait a long time to receive the items.
