I know I've commented already, and I normally think you look damn good BB1, but I just don't get the love for those at all. They're tacky and atrocious, and not even in a high fashion sort of way.

How are they tacky? Because they have pony hair? You can hardly tell by the photo, they just look like a beefy pair of black hi-tops a la Rick Dunks.

People were asking for pics of the Julius leather on a girl, made some girl wear it, took pictures She's in kind of hippy or whatever garb (y'know, seattle) so it looks kinda weird, will take better pics of my girlfriend when she gets back in June, or ask a thin Japanese girl to try it

You know, the first time I ever saw a picture of the shoes (about 6 months ago) I thought to myself, "no way in hell I'd ever wear those things!" And I had similar thoughts about RO trainers, although the aversion was not quite as strong. But after spending a lot of time looking at this style on other forums and Japanese web sites, my mind somehow became acclimatized to this style. The influence of frequently visiting this forum is no different-- the vast majority here appear to constantly adjust their opinion of what's good fashion over time to match what the forum has exposed them to the most. Nor is it any different than how my mom would say 95% of the stuff posted on this forum is not good style. Different groups with different experiences will have very different opinions. Not everyone hates the style. For example, while wearing the shoes around town today I overheard some skateboarder types saying how cool my shoes looked. But I also noticed some older people glaring at them with perplexed looks on their faces. Xeno, you're observations are largely correct. The picture I posted is an accurate view of how the shoes look in person. The hair is not very obvious to others unless they stoop down and look closely. The hair mostly just adds an interesting texture as opposed to making the shoes look all hairy.

Given how long you've been here and your fit pic history, I'm not at all surprised that you in particular would say this. Anyway, there are several look book pics done by DBSS themselves which utilize these same shorts and shoes together. I will try to hunt some of them down, but I bet you will dislike those too. I suspect you're capable of appreciating the shoes provided the right exposure to the style, but just don't realize it.

Yep. The shorts are a cotton/rayon blend with lambskin cuffs and trim.

I kinda like the sneakers themselves, as well as the pants. I'm sure it looks good on the models, but i think something simpler would do both items good.

just some black skinny jeans tucked into those sneakers would look cool IMO. might not be wacky enough but whatever.

Also (saying the obvious here but) massive sneakers plus 3 quarter pants makes anyone look Moo-like unless they're 6'3" 150lbs.

You're right in that i haven't been exposed to much fashiony stuff for that long. I'm working my way through the baller sneaker thread and i feel like i'm starting to develop a bit of a sense of what looks good and why.
