I'm in the procees of replacing some earrings for Valentines day. Went up to see my 'stone guy' after having first narrowed things down and brought a fistful of $$$, as that was how things were done on the lower end of the diamond business. Nothing bigtimer, but approaching the old(?) reporting threshold. Turns out lots of guys now don't want do cash transactions b/c of the PA. You have to send things out of state or suck it up. Anyone else run into this?

Couple times in the last year I've bumped into this. Once, we were moving some of the organizations cash reserves around and started a new account at a different bank. All the account signers had to physically go into the branch to some special dood who would ask you stupid question and certify he did not feel you were a terrorist.

Another time, sort of similar thing, but personal. Started a new account at a local credit union and came in with a 10k personal cheque to do that. The money was held for about two weeks due to something about this. I felt like Spitzer or something.
