Otter, please stop "shouting". It's really obnoxious. This is coming from me as a mod.
p.s., I'm 35, and my problem is the opposite of oman. I workout a fair bit, with a lot of it HIIT stuff, as well as some weights, and a lot of bodyweight exercises (weighted dips, deadhang pullups, power pushups, etc...) as well as martial arts workouts (mma and bjj, so full contact and full force), but I love me my cake and pasta. In my 20's and up to about 30, I was really lean, down to about 7% bodyfat at several points, and strong for my size (150-155 lbs), so it's not like I don't know what it takes to be in that type of shape. But, and ymmv (and obviously does) the decrease in quality of life (I want chicken cacciatore, not a bland chicken breast, and I want tiramisu, not fruit, for desert) is not worth it for me.
