Movie with giant earthworms (NOT Tremors)?

There was a movie I saw on TV as a child (I was a child in the early 80s), the premise had something to do with a radioactive accident or similar, one of the results was that there were giant earthworms or caterpillars around town. I don't believe they were attacking as in Tremors, but I could be wrong. In particular, I remember a scene where an earthworm is in the house and one of the protagonists cuts it in half with a knife or an ax. Also, of course the movie wasn't Tremors because I saw that movie when it came out in 1990.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I don't give a fuck about the topic of the OP, I'm going to say it:

Tremors is my favorite movie series of all time. Seriously. I own all of them and watch them regularly. Can't get over that shit.

Might as well ask as long as I'm here. When I was a kid, I remember seeing a 'horror' flick on TV that had a giant tit that was the result of a scientific experiment gone awry. It trampled the countryside, destroying everything in its path. Any ideas to the title? Seems like a great movie to watch on a first date...
