I have AE mactavishes (cognac) and tan penny loafers and I want to buy another pair of shoes that can go as casual at khakis+button down all the way up to a suit.

I think AE strands in brown burnished would be pretty versatile.

Will they work with khakis?

Other suggestions?

My short list is

AE Strands (in bourbon or brown burnished)

5th ave (bourbon or brown)

maccalister (merlot)

other?

Strands are great, but I'd say that you're 'safer' with darker shoes i.e. burgundy, vs tan when it comes to suits.

Yeah, was thinking the brown burnished strands would be more flexible. I am pretty sure I can wear them with anything from dress pants to suits but I didn't know if they would be too much for some pressed khakis.

They'd be fine.

Anybody familiar with Sid Mashburn in terms of size/fit and quality?

This is pretty much everything I'm looking for (except it doesn't have a tab collar) http://www.sidmashburn.com/featured/band-collar/blue-oxford-sid-mashburn-band-collar-shirt.html

But I have no idea what their stuff is like. I "know" about Mashburn but have never bought/seen/handled their product. I'm typically between L and XL (L too tight in chest/back, XL too wide in waist and too long) in most shirting. If anybody has any experiences with Sid Mashburn shirting and could tell me if they are TTS, slim, boxy etc and also comment on the quality it would be greatly appreciated.

Is Rakuten and Samurai Craft a legit thing? Looking to order some jeans from there and searching around I'm seeing mixed results...

Sid Mashburn is a very busy outfit here in ATL but this shirt will not fit you. Their shirts all run slim/tapered much like the guys who work there. You sound like a great candidate for a good MTM shirt. And for what Sid is charging you for heavy "Japanese" oxford you could probably go MTM and get something of equal or better quality. AND it would fit. Some guys go MTM just because they like the options but for you it might be the only way to get a truly good fit.

also, when are they (the white low version) cheapest and who offers the best sales on them?

Try these chukkas by Alden Shoes?

I think their lack of stenciling makes them easier to dress down.

Hi guys I'm looking for a casual pair of brown(ish) shoes to wear but I'm normally a sneaker guy and am a bit overwhelmed with all the choice.

I have searched and found a few interesting ones, what do you guys think of these? Maybe someone with more shoe experience can point our alternatives in a similar style.

I like MMM and it's one of the best non suede shoes I found for my purpose.

Not sure about this one, my girlfriend liked the looks of it and I am happy with the quality of my prada stuff. I'm worried the decoration looks ridiculous for a young looking 23 yo.

Regain

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100Loake 1880 Aldwych

TOD's

These three are all brown suede which is my fabric of choice, but I need a shoe to go great with jeans and I'm worried the Loakes are just too formal.

I hope you guys can help.

Thanks. So basically they run at least 1 size too big? I'm 6'2" and 208 with a 32" waist, I can usually find shirts that fit me it's just a matter of taking a loss in 1 aspect (ie/ tight on the chest).

My vote goes to Margiela :)!!!! I think it wins with its simplicity hands down!!!

Brown suede shoes go well with jeans. If you wanted to go lighter you could. Allen edmonds has the suede strand in tan which goes well dressed up or with jeans.

The brogueing, or decoration as you called it, is actually par for the course in CM shoes. My vote is NOT for the MMM since I think the sole looks funny and they look too casual. If you're looking for any sort of versatility there, then I'd look at something like the AE strand or look at wingtips in tan. The lighter color is definitely casual, but wouldn't be out of place being more dressed up, potentially even with a suit depending on what you pick.
