If not Zara, then what? I'm going to take a look at the Ludlow suit by J. Crew

I know Ervell had one a few seasons back, and I believe Rag&Bone used to have a couple of models...

How much are you trying to spend? A lot of designers + SZ folks make mandarin collar jackets.

rooki, what's your budget? Do not recommend Paul Smith shoes unless you're treating them solely as club beaters.

^In the Ervell range, maybe around 5 bills or less? (which might put many of the SZ designers out of contention)

Alternatively, I could have one made here in Beijing, but that could be a hit or miss

If anybody actually has a cadet blazer (42) for sale...

Am I wrong? What's your opinion on stuff that comes out of China in terms of quality and more importantly value for money? What percentage of the clothes and accessories you buy come from the People's Republic?

So I guess the bottom line is, should I really care if something is made in China especially when it's a little more pricey? Not expensive, just not cheap?

Most factories employ migrant East Asian/Latin American workers, regardless of location. And there are often shadier aspects of manufacturing anyhow (such as an item being made in China and then "finished" in Italy for a Made in Italy tag). As the others said, judge it on other measures

I am a student and I have like all hoodies. I want to transition out of this. In fact, I need to. If I were to have one jacket, what would that jacket be? I live in California so it is pretty hot year round, so no bombers/thick stuff. Specific items/links would be nice and also lower price, the better. Preferably around $100.

Thanks!

Levi's trucker jacket in denim or cord

harrington jacket (Baracuta, Ben Sherman)

Linen blazer - fit is more important than brand

Do these go with raw denim jeans?

How long do you think will those $300 shoes last? I bet exactly the same amount of time as 3 Stacy Adams boots.

I wear a US 9.5 medium width. What size should I get in Carminas? I'm specifically looking at their double monks. I can't seem to decide between the Salinger or the ones made of Cordovan. Is this leather superior? Does it age that much better that it's worth the added expense? Many thanks.

There is a Carmina sizing thread I would check there. I prefer Cordovan myself, but most leather will age and patina. Not sure if it is worth the expense to you, but the maintenance on Cordovan is lower except when it rains.
