What "tricks" are you looking for? You either make the pant leg shorter or you don't. 

If your pant leg is dragging under your shoe, you're doing it wrong. Stop being so afraid of showing your socks.

How is 35 % wool and 65 % viscose on a suit (120's)?

Making a MTM suit and this is one of fabrics they have. What should I look for.

If they smell or you get something god awful on them, wash them with Woolite on gentle.  Just don't dry.  They'll shrink back to their original size and then you'll just have to break them in a little again.  I wouldn't overthink this one.  This also only really applies to raw denim since washed denim is already washed (see what I did there).
